who we are
TEDxMassArt is a student-organized and produced event! Feel free to contact us.
Ariel DiOrio, Executive Director of TEDxMassArt, is a senior in the Studio for Interrelated Media (SIM) at MassArt. Although her recent artwork combines installation, photography, and interaction, she will always love event production and has organized a number of documentary screenings and benefit concerts for a variety of different causes. She currently teaches art at the Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center, and is passionate about using art to improve the ways in which people live and thrive around the world.
Julie Chen, Executive Assistant of Logistics and Design, is a senior in SIM at MassArt. Documentary Photography, Web, and Social Media are her fortés, while she also creates work in typography, jewelry, music, and performance. Before her studies as an interdisciplinary artist, she was a professional architectural model builder. Most recently, she was part of Team Massachusetts in the US Department of Energy Solar Decathlon 2011 for MassArt.
Dyllan Nguyen, Executive Assistant of Fundraising and Event Production, is a senior in SIM at MassArt. He is best described as an event producer/curator and thinker. While his work spans many disciplines and mediums, he is partial to sound and participatory works, and is interested in education. He enjoys making noise, observing the world, and taking things apart. Dyllan was one of two technical directors for Eventworks 2010-2011.
Eventworks, a student organization within the SIM department at MassArt, is an important part of the TEDxMassArt production team and specializes in all aspects of planning and executing some of the most creative and enriching events in Boston. Each spring the group produces a festival; this year it will be called The Festival of Narratives and will be a multi-event extravaganza that will take place throughout the month of April. TEDxMassArt will be the first event in the festival.
Evenworks 2011-2012 is Johnny Chanthavong, Monica Chiang, Alex Kennedy, and Brooke Scibelli.
